Project: Building a new school

As we keep building water pumps for the community, we're taking the next step: building a school for its children.

We are raising 50'000 CHF to build a school in northwestern India.

Join us in bringing quality education to Hasanpur Mohanpur, a village community in District Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh.

The new school will provide education for up to 300 children from Mohanpur and the surrounding villages – empowering them in their skills and confidence, to build better futures for themselves and their communities.

Project Scope

The school will offer the following grades:

  • pre-school for children aged 2-6
  • primary education (Grades 1-5)
  • upper primary education (Grades 6-8)

The children will be learning in a safe environment, with the support they need to develop confidence & academic success.

The school facility will include:

  • a two-storey school building with surrounding outdoor area
  • 10 classrooms
  • 2 offices for teachers
  • sanitary facilities
  • a schoolyard and safe infrastructure for sports
  • a school bus

The building will be constructed in collaboration with local companies & skilled workers.

Rainwater systems and solar energy help minimize costs and environmental impact.

The construction is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027, allowing the school to open for the 2028 academic year (starting in April).

Project Funding

In terms of funding, several milestones have already been reached:

  • Funding for the construction phase has been secured through donations.
  • Existing sponsors have committed to covering 30’000 of the total 80’000 CHF in land acquisition costs.

Help us raise the remaining 50'000 CHF to purchase the land!

Do you have any further questions?

We want to meet the locals where they’re at: while access to clean water remains one of their fundamental needs, education is next in priority. District Bijnor is a rural area, facing challenges such as limited infrastructure, teacher shortages, resource disparities and poor learning outcomes. A quality education will open doors for the students & create opportunities for further education and income in the long term.

Start-up funding is planned for the first two years to cover operating costs, wages, and materials. In the long term, the school will still need external support from time to time. At the same time, we are putting the foundations in place for greater independence and financial stability: The school will increasingly be funded through moderate school fees and the active involvement of parents and the local community. This will help reduce the school’s long-term dependence on external funding.

The school building will serve as a model for sustainable construction and the responsible use of resources:

  • Rainwater harvesting and infiltration

  • Sponge city principles for the outdoor areas

  • Natural cooling through shading and cross ventilation

  • Robust and durable locally sourced building materials

  • Use of local workforce and companies

  • Photovoltaic system for environmentally friendly electricity generation

Your donation will be used exclusively for the purchase of the land. A large sum for the construction phase and the land purchase has already been guaranteed by sponsors – help us make up the difference now!
