What we do

Water is Life – empowering communities one drop at a time

Access to clean, safe water is not just a basic need — it’s the foundation for health, education, and opportunity. In many parts of India, communities still face daily challenges in securing this essential resource. Our project aims to change that.

Safe Water for Indian villages

Drop Of Smile provides drinking water systems in District Bijnor, north-western India, to communities with great development needs.
Thanks to generous donations we were able to install 35 water pumps in 2024, improving the living conditions of hundreds of people.

Water pump and tank 2

Technology

Our drinking water systems are designed, so that the local community can maintain them themselves.
A submersible pump draws groundwater into a storage tank, from which drinking water is distributed to households through a pipe system. A Drop of Smile technician regulary checks the installation and water quality.

What We Do_Financing

How Are the Pumps funded?

A complete drinking water installation costs approximately CHF 500, including drilling, material costs, hydraulic and electrical installations.
Maintenance costs are covered by families and villagers, who receive drinking water through a subscription system (approximately CHF 1.10 per week). A model that promotes personal responsibility and sustainability.

However, the purchasing power of the locals does not suffice to cover investment costs. This is where you come in!
